Dr. Matthew A. McNairy’s professional areas of interest are musculoskeletal radiology and breast imaging. He is fellowship trained in musculoskeletal radiology and co-chairs sports medicine and musculoskeletal conferences at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He is also fellowship trained in breast imaging and specializes in breast cancer detection using mammography, ultrasound and MRI.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude in his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University, Dr. McNairy attended the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Following medical school, he did his residency at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and earned board certification in diagnostic radiology. He then completed two fellowships at the University of California, San Diego, one in musculoskeletal radiology and one in breast imaging. His professional associations include the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Breast Imaging and the American Medical Society.

Dr. Jeffrey S. McClellan is fellowship-trained and board certified in diagnostic radiology. Dr. McClellan is skilled in interpreting and acquiring medical imagining using such clinical imaging techniques as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fluoroscopy, positron emission tomography (PET), projection radiography (x-ray), computed tomography, ultrasound, and other imaging tools. He has special interest in mammography, MRI, and ultrasound imaging techniques.

After graduating from medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Dr. McClellan completed a transitional internship at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. His residency and fellowship training in diagnostic radiology, including one year as chief resident, was completed at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. McClellan has acted as the Chairmen of the Department of Radiology at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center (UVRMC). His professional associations include the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the American Roentgen Ray Society.

Dr. Kurtis R. Kendell is fellowship trained and board certified in diagnostic radiology. He specializes in musculoskeletal radiology and MRI. He co-chairs sports medicine and musculoskeletal conferences at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Kendell graduated from the John Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. After obtaining his medical degree, he attended the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he completed an internship in orthopedic surgery, a post-graduate MRI research fellowship, a diagnostic radiology residency, and a musculoskeletal radiology fellowship.

He has been honored with several awards including the C. Allen Good Award from the Mayo Clinic, American Roentgen Ray and Radiological Society of North America Introduction to Research Award, The Mack Thomas Rozelle Chemistry Award from the University of Utah, and the National Collegiate Student Government Award.

Cody Jarrett received a Bachelor of Science in Advanced Radiologic Sciences at Weber State University. He then completed the Physician Assistant Program and received a Master of Health Sciences degree from Duke University. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is professionally certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support.

Cody’s past work experience includes working as a Radiologic Technologist at LDS hospital and Intermountain Medical Center. Responsibilities included conventional and fluoroscopic imaging in the operating room, emergency department, and intensive care units.

His primary area of focus is performing procedures through fluoroscopic and sonographic imaging including gastrointestinal imaging, lumbar punctures, joint injections, and thyroid biopsies.

Jason received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Utah Valley State College and completed a Master of Science in the Family nurse practitioner program at Brigham Young University. He is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the American College of Phlebology. He is professionally certified in basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and advanced cardiac life support.

Jason’s past work experience includes coordinating care for post myocardial infarction and post angiography patients in a 17 bed cardiac intensive care unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He is an experienced charge nurse coordinating staff and patient assignments, and responding to hospital emergencies as a team lead. He is currently certified on Intra Aortic Balloon Pump and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy.

His primary area of focus in the vein center is new patient consultations and coordinating care for established patients. He also works in the hospital with the Interventional Radiologists performing procedures including joint injections, lumbar punctures, PICC lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis and thyroid biopsies.

Dr. Dennis Heaston is fellowship-trained and board certified in diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology. His primary interest is in diagnostic oncoradiology and minimally invasive procedures related to that field, such as tumor embolization, radiofrequency ablation, etc. His expertise includes treatment of disorders of the arterial and venous circulation, like acute stroke intervention, vascular stenting, endovenous ablation and embolization.

Dr. Heaston obtained his medical degree and completed an internship in therapeutic radiology and a residency in diagnostic radiology from the University of Utah School of Medicine. His fellowship in interventional and oncologic radiology was completed at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas. He taught interventional and therapeutic radiology at Duke University for four years before coming to Provo in 1983. He speaks English, French and Spanish.

Dr. Daniel Hatch’s primary professional areas of focus are in the latest techniques of minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of disease (vascular and nonvascular). He is highly trained and instructs in both laser and radiofrequency procedures. These new state-of –the-art procedures are minimally invasive ways to treat varicose veins. Dr. Hatch’s expertise includes treatment of disorders of the arterial and venous circulation, acute stroke intervention, Uterine Fibroid Embolization for the treatment of uterine fibroids as well as spine interventions for pain management including vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty of acute vertebral body compression fractures. Dr. Hatch is fellowship-trained and board certified in interventional radiology.

Dr. Hatch graduated from the University of Utah College of Medicine and received numerous awards including the top research award at the Western Neurological Society. He then completed his Internship in Medicine at the same institution and was elected as one of the top Interns of the Year. Dr. Hatch filled a residency in radiology followed by a fellowship in vascular intervention at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Hatch is a member of SIR (Society of Interventional Radiology), ACP (American College of Phlebology), RSNA (Radiological Society of North America), and ARRS (American Roentgen Ray Society).

Dr. Roy Charles Hammond first made the personal goal of joining Utah Valley Radiology Associates while in college at Brigham Young University. He was excited to accomplish that goal in 2001 after graduating with Honors from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and completing a Diagnostic Radiology residency and fellowship at the University of Utah.

Dr. Hammond’s fellowship was in Body Imaging with an emphasis in Body and Musculoskeletal MRI. He is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Hammond is currently the Director of MRI for Utah Valley Hospital, American Fork Hospital and Orem Community Hospital and Medical Director of Imaging at Spanish Fork Hospital. He has also served as Medical Staff President at Utah Valley Hospital.

Dr. Hammond’s current areas of special interest include MRI, coronary artery multi-detector CT angiography and digital mammography. He has been working with several of the radiologists on implementing the coronary artery CT angiography program at UVH.

Dr. Hammond maintains professional membership in the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Roentgen Ray Society, American Medical Association, Utah Medical Association and Huntsman- Intermountain Cancer Care Program.

Dr. Hammond states that the best part of his job is the daily personal interactions with referring physicians and working through challenging cases with them. He loves being able to make a significant contribution to patient care. He also enjoys the constant intellectual stimulation provided by advances in medical imaging. Dr. Hammond met his wife of 25 years, Jennifer, while a radiology resident at the University of Utah. They have 4 children and make their home in Springville. He enjoys skiing, boating, hiking, golfing, movies, and spending quality time with his family.

Dr. Halversen is fellowship-trained and board certified in diagnostic radiology. His expertise includes Pediatric Radiology, Neurological Imaging / MRI, and PET/CT.

After graduating from medical school at The George Washington University School of Medicine, he completed a residency in diagnostic radiology followed by further training in pediatric radiology at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Halversen holds a BS in Biology with human emphasis, graduating from the University of Utah.

While in the military Dr. Halversen’s responsibilities included Chief of Ultrasound; Quality Assurance and Risk Management Officer in the Department of Radiology; representative to the Madigan AMC Trauma Committee; and a member of the Educational Committee, overseeing a 20 resident training program in Diagnostic Radiology. He has been honored by the United States Army with the Army Achievement Medal in 2002, 2003 and 2005, as well as the Meritorious Service Medal for exemplary service as Academic Staff Radiologist in 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving as Chief of Radiology for the 47th Combat Support Hospital in Mosul, Iraq.

Professional Societies include Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Society of Pediatric Radiology and European Society of Radiology.

Dr. Tyler L. Crawford’s primary professional areas of focus are in musculoskeletal radiology and PET imaging. Dr. Crawford is fellowship-trained in musculoskeletal radiology. Dr. Crawford co-chairs sports medicine and musculoskeletal conferences at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

After graduating magna cum laude in his undergraduate work at BYU, Dr. Crawford moved to California for postgraduate work. He completed medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, and an internship at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley Internal Medicine Program. Dr. Crawford then completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the UCLA Medical Center, where he was a chief resident. Finally, he finished a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at UC San Diego. While completing his fellowship at UCSD, Dr. Crawford also continued as clinical faculty at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica before joining URA. His professional associations include the Radiological Society of North America, the American College of Radiology, and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
