Dr. David Nielsen’s primary professional interests are neuroradiology and pediatric radiology, with sub-specialty expertise in imaging of the pediatric brain, head and neck, and spine.

After graduating from the University of Utah, Dr. Nielsen attended Creighton University School of Medicine. Following medical school and internship, he filled a residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and earned board certification in diagnostic radiology. He subsequently completed fellowships in pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology/body MRI at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. Nielsen trained and practiced in tertiary pediatric hospitals for almost two decades before joining Utah Radiology Associates. After sub-specialty pediatric radiology training, he was a staff radiologist at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center for five years, primarily practicing general pediatric radiology. This was followed by nearly 12 years at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City as a neuroradiologist.

Dr. Nielsen is board certified by The American Board of Radiology. He is a member of The American College of Radiology, Society for Pediatric Radiology, American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology, and American Society of Neuroradiology.
